Scripture Sunday

Luke 8:22-25
22Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

For the past few months in Sunday School we have been studying about the miracles that Jesus performed. The miracle mentioned in these verses of Luke has always been a personal favorite. I love how it shows just how powerfuly my Lord is.

There are many things about this story that I love but my favorite is located in verse 22. Jesus says, "Let us go over unto the other side of the lake". How awesome! The Lord knew that they were about to hit a mighty storm - a storm that would scare even these seasoned sailors (in fact, the seasoned sailors thought they were going to die in the middle of the storm) - yet, he told them they were going to the other side of the lake. Which means, he had already promised the sailors that they were going to make it through the storm! We know, as long as Jesus is with it us, that we are going to make it through any storm!

Candice also mentioned in our Sunday School lesson to notice that it wasn't the storm that awoke our Savior. What awoke Him? The unbelief of the sailors. They were the ones who woke him up. They were the one that didn't believe in His power.

Are you in a storm? Do you have the faith of these sailors? Or do you have the faith that the Lord will bring you through? This is something I struggle with every day! But I can always remember, what mighty and powerful Savior I serve!

The Life of a Photographer's Daughter

One of the joys of both being a Mommy and a photographer is that I can I have a photo session whenever I want. This sometimes is not a joy for my children. However, I just so happen to have a little girl who loves being in front of the camera and most of the time allows her inner Diva to come out. I can't wait until she gets a little older and starts posing for me. And I am 100% positive she will!

So, today was 75 degrees (yes, in February, can you believe it?) and the sun was shining - so what did we do? Got the camera out of course! I dressed her up in an adorable dress (that I got for $2 at a local consignment sale), placed her hair in a little pony tail (our new favorite hairstyle) and her little brown shoes. After we finished accessorizing, this mommy grabbed the camera and outside we went!

I hope you enjoy this little look at what it's like to be a photographer's daughter! By the way, I may possibly have the cutest 10 month old little girl in the world ;)

See, what I mean about the inner Diva coming out? Look at that hand on that hip!

If you're wondering why I don't show off many photos of my Eli - it's not that I love Brianna more - it's because this is the response I get from him when I get my camera out. His exact words were - "Bye Mom!"

The wind gave her a chill, lol.

Happy early Spring!

Tuesday Around Town

Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy
Oliver Springs, Tennessee
Principal - Mr. Nathan Barker
Assistant Principals - Mr. Carl Broscious & Mrs. Kendra Walls

Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy (MPCA) will always hold a special place in my heart. It was where I attended school for a few years, it was where I was given the first opportunity to teach and it will be where I send my children one day. MPCA offers grades Kindergarten-12th Grade and is continually growing and helping families in our commnity train their children with Christian education.

From the Mount Pisgah Christian Academy website ...

"Mount Pisgah Christian Academy (MPCA) operates as a ministry of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. MPCA operates with a statement of faith consisting of Bible doctrines that will be taught and maintained. The Academy will assist parents in their responsibility (Deut. 6:6-7) in conforming their children into "the image of His Son" (Rom. 8:29). As the home, church, and Academy work together, God's plan for each child will be discovered. Our entire Academy program is designed to help parents fulfill this command of God and to lead their children to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and continual growth in Him. The Bible is the basis for our education and is the foundation of the ministry of this Academy. Without God's Word, there can be not true learning.

Our desire is to give the maximum knowledge of Christian living in light of God's Word, "that in all things He might have the preeminence" (Col. 1:18).  Even though knowledge is factually the same for the believer and unbeliever, no subject can be taught in its truth if its Originator is ignored. Our teachers are determined to help each parent "train up a child in the way he should go..." as they are instructed in Pro. 22:6. Our standards and regulations are in effect to help us do things decently and for our school to be pleasing to God."

For more information on Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy you can contact them by phone at 865-435-4831, by e-mail, or on Facebook! You can also visit their website, www.mpcapatriots.com.

Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy's staff is like no other teaching staff you'll find. Not only are they well educated and prepared to teach their students, they also incorporate God's word into every aspect of their curriculum. MPCA uses the A-Beka and Bob Jones curriculum. Each class begins their morning with Bible class and prayer.

Chris & Jennifer

Chris and Jennifer were the last mini-session on that blustery, cold day. They took advantage of the Sweetheart Mini-Sessions to have some "engagement" photos made for their vow renewal in August. They also brought along their two little blessings Hailey & Hannah who pretty much looked like marshmallow kids with their coats on and their parent's coats on too.

Just like the other couples, Chris and Jennifer were troopers and braved the cold without much complaining ;) They were however, the only couple that I took photos of inside the Convention Center - not many, but a few! It was so warm in there. Despite the freezing temperatures, you could obviously tell that the McKinneys were completely in love. We had such a great time.

Here's a few of Mr. and Mrs. McKinney's photos from the Sweetheart Mini-Session. I can't wait to photograph your vow renewal in August - I believe it will be much warmer by then ;)

Their oldest daughter, Hailey, posed them for this photo. I may have a little assistant on my hands!

Chris couldn't remember where they shared their first kiss! He was the only man the entire day to hold up a blank paper, lol.

Check out their video on the Memories & Blessings' Facebook page.
